Nearly there!

So I'm nearly finished on this project! the suit is now a once piece, all I have to do is stitch down the shoulders, and add a red line going down the arm!
I've decided to buy the gloves instead because creating the gloves was to difficult for me, as it has a funny pattern and shape to it. I will most probably stich the gloves onto the arms to give it the whole entire once piece look. I am still struggling on boots, I can't think of anything to use so if you have an ideas just messege me on my Twitter!

I recently tried out the puff paint on a piece of the lycra, and it came out really well, so I will get on creating the webs, and the spider in a few days. So that's all I have to say really... it's coming along really well, I'm so pleased with it! I know it's not 100% movie accurate, but hey-ho can't be perfect!
Check out the picture at the bottom to see me in the full one piece!!!

And the legs are done! kinda...

Alot of people said I couldn't do this... so this is me proving you wrong.

So today I've been working on the bottom half of the costume, mainly the legs. Firstly I went out to M&S and picked up a pair of 'Sports Underwear' to create the shape of the leg, because I was running round all day to find a pattern, but had no luck finding one. I also had to pick up more of the Blue Lycra, because I definitely did not have enough for the whole suit. Last night I was also reading on what to use to create the webs on the suit, and the spider logo. I came across some stuff called 'Dylon 3D Puff Paint' and this is what all the pro's have been using to create the web on their costumes, so I thought I would give it a crack. Only cost me £1.99 to!
It had taken about 3 hours to fully complete the legs, I included the red stripe which leads runs down his leg, and creates a small belt around his waist.

I've also started on creating the top half of the costume, which full be completely blue, and then layer the red on top of it. To get the shape of the torso, I had to use one of my little sisters long sleeve shirt which was really tight, to get the right size for the upper half.
I only created the sleeves, and the torso, and kept it basic. I will complete the rest of the torso tomorrow, and hopefully have the red put on top to! Overall I am really REALLY pleased with the outcome, seeing as all of this has cost under £20! I'd love to hear some feedback on this project, and I can't wait to wear it to all the comic cons!

Once again I am finding it difficult to find a way of creating the gloves and boots. So if any of you have any ideas contact me on Twitter https://twitter.com/musicmanjay

Day 1

Howdy, just a quick blog of what I've gotten up to and how far I've gotten so far with making this costume.

I made a few designs of the spider for the costume, just so I can get a breif idea on how it will look, and how many pieces too make it.
I also have drawn the webbing around the spider to see what it looks like, and seems it will be the hardest part.

So I've finally gotten off of my butt to go and buy these materials for the Spider-Man costume, I've managed to grab some pretty cool red and blue lycra which is really stretchy, and has this sort of honeycombed effect to it, which makes the suit more realistic. I also have picked up some black netting which they make tu tu's out of, so I can tone the suit down to make it darker and to give it a patterned effect.
I'll probably be heading back to my local fabric shop again pretty soon, as I need to find something to create the black webbing on the suit, which I'm finding really difficult to get my head around if I'm honest.

So that's how far I've gotten recently, so if you have any questions, just pop me a comment, or tweet me on Twitter at https://twitter.com/musicmanjay

Peace off!

Creating the spider

Hello, I thought I'd create some sort of blog for you all to read of my 'Amazing' quest? of creating a Spider-Man suit from the latest summer hit The Amazing Spider-Man. Mainly because the suit is so cool, and second because my summer is going to be boring!

A few things (You can skip this section, I might bore you with my love of the web head), I am a HUGE Spider-Man fan, he is my favourite superhero because I can connect with him because he lives a pretty normal life, and deals with what normal people deal with. He's such a cool guy, everyone loves him! He is a very big inspiration to me, and gives me a little bit of hope when I pick up a comic of his.
I actually have a lot of hate towards the first three movies, sorry Sam Raimi but I couldn't put up with a cry baby Peter Parker who wasn't funny, and left us all scarred with that horrendous dance scene which happened in Spider-Man 3 need I say more... but I thought the latest film was fantastic, blew my mind! Andrew Garfield was perfect, Emma Stone was.. damn.

So yeah this blog is to show you my journey of me creating the suit. It will not just be me making it, I will be having a few mates helping me out along the way to help with the process! The suit will be made out of a sort of polyester lycra, with patterns layered on top. I'm not 100% sure on what to create the webbing, and the Spider logo out of.. so if you have any ideas just pop it down in the comments!

I don't really know what else to say really... so uhhh stick around for daily blogs about my 'Amazing' journey!
